Fruity Pinot Noir wines from Oregon
The wines in this collection offer a taste of light and fruity Pinot Noir from Brooks Wine. Each wine originated from fruit grown on volcanic soil, one of the prominent soil types in Willamette Valley. Millions of years ago, as the Pacific plate shifted, volcanic activity formed the Coastal and Cascade Ranges and completely raised Oregon from beneath the ocean. Massive lava eruptions covered huge portions of Oregon with basalt. Over time, the basalt bedrock later weathered into volcanic soils. This soil type retains heat very well with moderate water retention, which allows for flexibility in irrigation practices. Volcanic soil is noted for its red to black hue due to varying concentrations of iron. Fruit grown on volcanic soil tends to have a beautiful depth of flavor with well preserved natural acidity. The resulting wines are fresh and fruit-forward with incredible ageability. The "fruity" aroma and flavor profiles of Pinot Noir from volcanic soils tend to lean toward red fruits, fresh florals, and herbs.
