Gratitude

Dear Friends,

I hope this finds you all healthy and safe.

Looking back at last week when I wrote my email, I was still feeling like the rug had been pulled out from under me. My focus was narrow and it was on the business and our team. A week has gone by and I have had more time to digest the current situation, focus on the bigger picture and plan. The cases in Oregon continue to hit record levels. I am planning for us to be shut down through the end of the year. If we able to open sooner, that means the virus cases are moving in the right direction which will be good news for all. My thoughts, prayers and thanks go out to all who are working on the front lines in health care and beyond and for all the people who have the virus.

Happy Sunday!

Gratitude

While I truly believe I live by the mantra of being grateful for every day, as the holiday season arrives, there are many ways we all show our gratitude. My leadership style, which is core to my personality, is to keep moving forward, to push ahead. The truth is, I can only operate that way because I feel I am on solid ground. This applies to my home life as well as my professional life. What is unseen is because I am so confident in where we are, I can look forward to what is next. What gets missed operating this way is the need to do a better job of expressing my gratitude to everyone. I need to take the time to say thank you, to acknowledge good work, to be in the moment of satisfaction and be present in it.

I will start by sharing why I am so grateful to you all beyond the financial support. It is purposeful that I write this email personally versus sending you emails with a transactional tone like we did for years. When meeting with a marketing strategist in the summer of 2019, she pointed out to me that when you are at the winery, you feel the love, the care, welcome, you feel that Brooks is family. How do you translate that to a website and your email communications?

That is the design strategy behind the website that we launched in February and is why I started writing these emails myself. The timing just happened to coincide with COVID but that timing seemed right too because I care so much about everyone. What I did not anticipate is how many of you continue to read my Sunday emails. I got teary at the winery this summer when I was told by some guests how much my emails mean to them. The responses I get every week and knowing that in a world where our inbox is flooded, it really means the world to me that you want to hear what I have to say. THANK YOU! It warms my heart and makes we want to keep writing these!

Your Holiday Headquarters

If I can offer any piece of advise this holiday season is order early. The increased volume of shipping across the country during all the shutdowns has made deliveries very unpredictable. And now we have black Friday and cyber Monday coming, and with everyone shopping from home, companies are expecting shipping to be delayed and chaotic. So don’t wait…even if you are not quite in the spirit yet. Thanksgiving is late this year which means the December holidays will be here before we know it.

As always, we have curated gift packs and a lot to choose from this year. And there is a method to our madness to hit different pirce points, different levels of wine knowlege etc. Today, I am going to highlight a group of packs that will please anyone who loves wine.

And a few things to note:
• Ground shipping is included on all packs.
• A one pager all about Brooks is included.
• Club discounts will be applied at checkout.
• Many of these wines support the Grower Relief Fund.
• Vote with your dollars: All purchases support all of our efforts of sustainability including 1% For the Planet
• Want to create your own? Need corporate/client gifts? Email [email protected]

HEAD TO HOLIDAY HEADQUARTERS

As I write this, my house is filled with the smell of turkey. With one vegetarian and the family split between liking mashed potatoes, stuffing, carrots, green beans etc, making the whole traditional meal became a lot of work for not a lot of satisfaction for anyone. The only thing the four of us all liked was the crescent rolls. Last year we decided to make something we don’t eat often that we all like. So this will be the second year the Heuck family enjoys fondue on Thanksgiving. David and I love a leftover turkey sandwich though so that is why we have a bird in the oven now. Turkey all week! We will be spending a few days with our son in Long Beach. I hope you all have a restful, wine and food filled holiday with your loved ones.

Happy Thanksgiving!
