2021 Cahiers Pinot Noir
A full-bodied Pinot Noir with structured tannins and warm notes of black tea, Chinese five spice, luxardo cherry, raspberry compote, and a hint of blood orange oil on the lengthy finish.
Cahiers (KY-YAY) is French for Notebooks or Journals in remembrance and honor of Jimi Brooks, who loved to read and write. Pascal found his father’s journals after he passed, and they allowed him to connect with his father through each journal entry.

Flavor Notes

97 Points | James Suckling - "Welcome to the dark side of the pinot noir force! Deep and dangerous with enormous concentration, this full-bodied pinot noir has stacks of damson-plum and blackberry fruit, but is also extraordinarily fresh and decisively dry. Enormously long, velvety finish in which violet, smoke and stony minerality are seamlessly interwoven. Drinkable now, but best from 2025."

A delicious pinot noir crafted from hand picked barrels of both our estate and neighboring vineyards. Aromatically the wine effuses Luxardo cherry, black tea and chinese five spice. On the palate, the wine is rich and voluminous with cherry compote and black raspberries.
Sommelier

Floral, with notes of dry herbs, dark berries, and baking spice. Would pair perfectly with a braised lamb ragu with tarragon.

Winemaking Notes
Rain events at the beginning of bloom diminished yields, and a dry summer was punctuated with unprecedented heatwaves. The timing worked in our favor since the heat happened pre-veraison, and the vines handled it well.
Harvest started in early September, but lower temperatures across the state allowed for a long and measured harvest season, with harvest extending into mid-October.
No disease, high sugars, balanced acids, and great flavors. 2021 will undoubtedly rank as one of the top Oregon vintages.
