2022 Rastaban Pinot Noir
A complex, structured, and red fruit-driven Pinot Noir balanced by Old-World notes of iron, peppercorn, and forest floor.
Comprised of 3 clones of Pinot Noir grapes from our very own Brooks Estate vineyard located in the Eola-Amity Hills. These clones are Pommard, 115, and 777, planted in volcanic basalt-nekia soil. Brooks Estate Vineyard is farmed biodynamic.
Named after the Rastaban star, the eye of the dragon in the Draco constellation. This is one of the first Pinot Noir labels Jimi Brooks produced. Mythology and Astrology were the themes of many of Jimi’s first wines.

96 Points | James Suckling - "Very deep and spicy nose with great strawberry and red currant fruit, plus a slew of delicately spicy aromas. Then comes the rich and concentrated medium-bodied palate that is seriously elegant. Long, compact and very well-structured finish. From this producer’s estate vineyard that is at a high altitude with volcanic basalt soil. From biodynamically grown grapes with Demeter certification. Drinkable now, but best from 2026."

Winemaking Notes
Heavy frost in April delayed flowering and pushed back the season. Cool temperatures in May and June further delayed the vintage. The fear was that the grapes wouldn't ripen in time for harvest if the rain and cold weather came in early October as usual.
Luckily July and August saw hot temperatures that helped accelerate ripening, and temperatures remained warm, and the rains held off until mid October, allowing for an extended ripening period.
We let our grapes hang out until the last possible minute, just before the rain and cold weather hit. The 2022 harvest was fast and furious, to say the least! The resultant wines are stunningly balanced and expressive. A truly classic Oregon vintage!
